I love your journal! It’s so cute and whimsical and colourful.
Paris is a wonderful city to be in for culture but it is true that we need to act FAST or everything gets sold out very quick.
I too track my reading and culture consumption when I can in my journal, but there’s a performance to this activity that kind of puts me off. So I’ve decided to write about the art I consume only if I feel like I’ve got things on my mind. Otherwise, it feels like I’m forcing myself.
I love your articles! I always have a very good time reading your posts and I am eager to read more! ☺️
For journals, i keep balancing between both sides tbh.
One on hand, writing all the time feels forced and if i don’t have anything to say, well what’s the point?
But on the other hand, i’ve found that after forcing myself to write just a few sentences, even if they’re plagiarized from Télérama or whatever outlet i agreed with, it’s made me more thoughful. I can now almost always think of actual personal thoughts to record. I don’t think i would have gotten that if i hadn’t forced myself.
And then there’s the extra bit of maybe sharing the photos on the internet. That’s purely performative, but i like it because people give me likes lol. It’s purely attention seeking, but it makes me happy 😂
I love this analysis of how you intentionally consume art and media! I laughed to myself when you recommended getting a well paying job…because….yeah LOL these notebooks are not cheap. I’m looking forward to all your posts about media in the year to come!
If i look back at how my consumption has changed over the past 6 years, the biggest shift came from when i got a job and suddenly i could do all the art i wanted, and could read all the books or see all the movies without having to spend to much brain energy into whether i could afford it, or find it for cheaper at another moment! It's so real that money brings you all that ahah
